Privacy policy

BecSpec is a specification search tool. It does not need to know who you are, and it does not ask. This page sets out the very little it touches and why.

Last updated 22 August 2026.

The short version

  • No account, no login, no sign-up.
  • Searches are processed in your browser. Specifications you type are not sent to a BecSpec server, because there isn't one.
  • No analytics and no tracking. BecSpec does not measure your visit, and sets no cookies of its own.
  • We do not sell data, and there is no advertising on this site.

Who we are

BecSpec is an independent project operated from Australia by its owner, who is the data controller for the limited processing described here. For any privacy question, correction or complaint, contact privacy@becspec.com.

What we collect

For ordinary use of the site, nothing that identifies you. There is no analytics, no advertising, no profiling and no account. The finders run entirely in your browser, so the specifications and values you enter stay on your device and are never transmitted to us.

Hosting and delivery

The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages, behind Cloudflare. To deliver and protect any website, these providers necessarily process technical request data — such as your IP address, the requested URL and your browser's user-agent — as part of routing traffic and defending against abuse. This is standard infrastructure processing that we do not control the detail of and do not receive as a report; we operate no application server of our own and keep no server-side logs. Their handling is governed by GitHub's privacy statement and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email us

If you choose to email one of the addresses on this site, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message, and we keep it only as long as needed to deal with what you raised. That is the one situation in which we hold something that identifies you, and only because you sent it.

What we do not collect

  • Names, addresses or phone numbers — unless you put them in an email to us.
  • Payment details. There is nothing to buy here.
  • Any account or profile, because there are no accounts.
  • Analytics, behavioural or advertising data of any kind.

Cookies

BecSpec sets no cookies of its own, and uses no analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie for security and abuse-prevention as part of delivering the site; this is not used to track you across sites. Because the finders run in your browser, blocking cookies does not affect how the tools work.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. The only parties that necessarily process technical request data are the infrastructure providers named above — GitHub and Cloudflare — solely to deliver and protect the site.

If BecSpec later introduces analytics, supplier referrals or enquiry forms, what is collected and shared, and with whom, will be stated clearly at the point you use them, and this policy will be updated — with consent handled where the law requires it — before any such feature goes live.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (under the GDPR / UK GDPR), or in Australia (under the Privacy Act) — data-protection law may give you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory or data-protection authority. Write to privacy@becspec.com and we will respond within a reasonable period, and within any timeframe your local law sets.

In practice, because we run no analytics and hold no accounts, the honest answer to an access request is almost always that we hold nothing about you on file — unless you have emailed us, in which case it is that correspondence and nothing more.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — particularly if we add analytics, enquiry capture, supplier referrals or any commercial relationship — the date at the top will be updated and the change described here.
