Equipment & replacement

Start with the nameplate, rating or equipment class you actually have. BecSpec compares candidates without favouring a manufacturer and keeps electrical, mechanical and regulatory questions separate when the source data cannot prove all three.

Motor replacement: what BecSpec can and cannot establish

A matching power rating alone does not make two motors interchangeable. Use the motor finder to narrow candidates by the specifications present in the source records, then verify the mechanical details that are missing before treating a candidate as a physical replacement.

  • Electrical and performance: compare rated power, poles or speed, voltage, frequency and efficiency where the source provides them.
  • Mechanical fit: frame, mounting, shaft and geometry must be supported by evidence; missing values are not inferred.
  • Across standards: an approximate IEC/NEMA equivalence is not treated as proof of drop-in interchangeability.

That boundary is deliberate: the useful answer is not merely a list of similarly rated motors, but a shortlist that makes the remaining fit checks explicit.
